It's funny how as a professional photographer, I still forget to take the lens cap off. I'll be standing in front of a family, have them set up in their proper positions, I'm the director of their show right now, they’re the main characters. And then I look into the viewfinder and it’s dark. Whoops, simple mistake. I forgot to take off the lens cap. So, I simply pluck it off, with a shameful giggle… haha, I swear I know what I’m doing. All jokes aside, why is it that artists constantly question their abilities? Why do we worry about others perceiving us as worthy of the self-proclaimed title that we’ve given ourselves. Because at some point, it is us that gives ourselves that title. Artist. Photographer. Author.

The imposter syndrome is real. I struggle with it daily. But I’ve gotten to the point where I look it in the face every day and I literally tell it “no, you are not the truth”. What is the truth? It’s what I make it. I am an artist. I’m a photographer. And I’ve decided I want to stay to true to myself and my vision regardless of technicalities, rules, trends, and how I may be perceived by actually being proud of what I put out.
So there’s my thoughtful introduction to my first post on Substack. I am here to vomit out my never-ending inner monologue and share my creative work. I hope you enjoy the ride and I would absolutely love to connect with other creatives and share many conversations and exchange words of encouragement.
Please subscribe, follow my Instagram, interact with my posts, or don’t. Just do what you want. Just kidding… please love me.
